Yves Saint Laurent released its new Ready-to-wear label recently. Unfortunately the simple logo was slammed by facebook fans. Some commenters claimed the ‘Yves’ name was iconic, and the new logo was too common (Source).
YSL will keep its original branding for couture, with the new brand only applying to the ready-to-wear. Contrary to the opinions of the facebook fans above, this is not actually that new for the label. In 1966, the ready-to-wear line was Saint Laurent Rive Gauche. So the new designer is actually paying homage to the brands’ heritage (Source). One customer in store clearly was ahead of the pack; sensing fashion history was being made, she snapped up the YSL clutch we had in store. I know many of you had been eyeing it for a while. But never fear, as we actually have some original Saint Laurent Rive Gauche in store as well!
